Glasses (The Kind That Go On Your Face)

First off lets define this a bit. When I say “glasses” what do I mean? Well I take that to mean sunglasses or prescription glasses or any type of glasses, even those red and blue previous generation 3D ones. (who remembers those? I do!)

Now I personally wear sunglasses a lot. I dislike having to squint in sunlight and with high quality sunglasses I don’t have to. I can see the world how it is, able it in a slightly darker fashion ;)

I have also have 3 pairs of sunglasses: 2 Oakley’s (a polarized and a non-polarized pair) and then a pair of “throwaway” ones that I use when I go anyplace where it could be dangerous to take the others i.e. the beach or on a roller coaster.

I try to take the best of car of those glasses and they have lasted me awhile, 2 years now, and I hope they will continue to last (as they were expensive and I’m not made of money)

Then we have prescription glasses. I do not require these but I think that anything that can be used to improve your senses or restore them is a good thing. So they are okay in my book.

Now sometimes glasses can give change your impression on another person. For some, if you see someone with glasses (non-sunglasses) then you might assume that they are smart or business-y (it’s a word) However, that may not be the case. I wonder how that stereotype got started in the first place? Probably a lot of causes that ended up together.

So what is my point? If you’ve made it this far then you may be wondering that. Well I’ll tell you. I think that glasses are a great invention and have many uses. Although we may not be using Google Glass anytime soon (I think the computer contact lens’s will catch on before the sunglasses) glasses are still an important part of many people lives, whether it enables them to see better or keep away the sun or give someone a different appearance.

Let’s all take a moment to thank Salvino D’Armate for inventing glasses! (however after a quick google search it appears that it is not really known but this guy is given credit most of the time so I’ll say it was him)

Thank for reading all the way down here if you did! I’ve been pretty busy lately so I haven’t been able to spend more time on the blog :(

Traveling

Just as a quick update. I am starting my planning to go traveling in Europe later this year.

I’m very excited to go and travel around and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. My travels will center around France as I’ve been learning French for the last few years (still not that good though) but I also plan on visiting the other nations and branch out from France.

Right now the adventure is still in the planning phase but I’m working on it with a friend as we plan to go together and explore.

Just thought I’d share that with you all :)

Everybody Can Relate Too Food

Food is universal

At least, that’s what I think.

Let’s all get on the thought train for a few minutes. Because there is one thing that has been a unifying force in all of human history. Food. Food is universal because it is one of the basic needs of survival. People must eat to survive and what they eat is called food.

Therefore, food is a great way to communicate. Every culture has their own taste when it comes to food. Wether it be differences in spiciness, texture, smell, bitterness, etc.

This makes the people who eat said food different but the same. Because we all eat food!

I think that everybody can work together to get food. Hunter gatherers did it, medieval people did it, we do it. The process has changed over time of getting food but the consumption remains the same.

At this point many are probably wondering why this even matters and that I’m probably going off the rails so I will refocus here:

It is a fact that, as a human, you must consume food to stay alive (at our current level of technology) so it is something that every person has in common. Everybody has a favorite food and everybody can appreciate what food does for us.

I just wanted to dedicate this post to food and how awesome it is. Many people take food for granted and I think we should occasionally take a step back and wonder at how far food has progressed.

Thanks everybody for reading! Also, if you have a favorite food then let me know and why that is your favorite food in the comments :)

Inspiration

I’m going to just start typing and see what happens here.

I named this post “Inspiration” because that is what I need. I tend to have most of my posts planned out and there is usually a backlog of stuff that will get posted over the next few days or weeks.

I say this because right now there is no backlog. This is current.

I’m writing this because Inspiration is something that many people struggle with once they reach a certain part in their blogging career. Ha, look at me, implying that I have spent any sort of time on WordPress being an accomplished blogger.

It’s now been a few months since I started with blog and I have (let me check) 171 followers. Now that’s pretty cool, it’s nice that many people are getting my work whenever I post. Realistically the number is smaller than that because of the spam accounts that subscribe or the people who don’t actually care about my material but just about getting more views to their site.

But if you are  one of my readers who like seeing my stuff then I thank you! Especially the people who comment frequently and participate in conversations, going to give a shout out to Aul and Atherz there.

But let’s get back the main topic (was there a topic?) of Inspiration.

I tend to have the best ideas when I’m doing nothing, just sitting still and wondering about the universe. Sometimes I play some music . . . okay most of the time I play music but that’s besides the point (again, what is the point?) Inspiration comes in many forms and from many sources (finally a point to this whole thing!) While I get inspiration from pondering, another may get inspiration from hanging upside down, or working out. Whatever it may be, being inspired and having a unique thought is always interesting and fun.

I love discovering a certain pathway of thinking I had not gone down before and exploring it further. That is usually how I get my ideas for posting.

Coincidentally, when I do not have time to sit around and ponder I have fewer ideas, as is the case right now, resulting in what you are reading now, assuming you’ve made it this far. I know it’s been a lot looking back but hopefully I’ll find an ending to this pathway soon.

Anyway, the moral of the story (what does that even mean in this context?) is that you should take some time off from your busy schedule, if you have one, and spend some of that time off doing whatever activity it is that inspires you. I think that staying inspired is key to living a happy life so start thinking!

If you made it this far then I thank you for reading everything! I hope I . . . inspired you (ha . ha . ha . I’m sorry) If you liked this style of writing, essentially a stream of consciousness, then let me know. I still need to make my next post ;)

Forwards Or Backwards, That Is The Question

This question was posed to me: “you can travel one direction in time, forwards or backwards, which do you choose?”

I paraphrased there a bit but essentially this is a very easy question for me to answer as I have thought about it before.

(I’m also assuming that you can pick how far you want to go backwards or forwards and that you would not have a way of going back once you got there)

I would travel forward in time. No question.

Why might you ask? Well it is because I love the unknown. I think it is amazing and full of possibilities and I love to just know what will be.

Thing is, I know what has happened. I took all my history classes. It’s happened, it’s done. Now granted I do not know everything that happened. There are still a lot of mysteries that are not know like where did humans originate from and the like. There are also a lot of cool people who I would like to meet from the past like the Buddha for example.

However! The past has happened and the future has not. Therefore, the future has the most potential and that is what I want to learn more about.

Will the human race leave the earth eventually or will we never leave? Are there others in the galaxy or are we alone? Those questions are something that I think will be answered in the future.

I also think that if I traveled far enough into the future then I would be able to help them out and be a historian. I could recount firsthand some events that have happened from my time but to them is something that are lacking information on. You never know.

Of course there are also dangers to going into the future, a super virus or something that could kill me the moment I come in contact with another person or I could kill them or something else I have not thought of but I still want to go.

I don’t want to go to the past, at least the recent past because I don’t want to inadvertently change something that was vital for something. I don’t know what it would be but I don’t want it to happen.

I think that explains my stance daily well. If you have an opinion on the topic let me know in the comments. Do you want to go forwards or backwards?

Rock Climbing: pt 2

So after my last post about rock climbing I thought I should post an update.

I’ve been climbing a lot recently. To give you a perspective of what it’s like here are some pictures of small portion of the place.

Photo Sep 19, 3 56 29 PM Photo Sep 19, 4 26 51 PM

There are not a lot of people there as the time of the picture because it was early in the day around 2pm. More people tend to show up later in the night.

The sea pictures is the bouldering area, the place where you can climb without ropes and essentially free-climb stuff. You can do this because the hight of the walls is not enough that a fall from the top would not seriously injure you.

I’m loving rock climbing because it’s such a great way of visually seeing your progress. Different routes are rated different difficulties so I can do routes that I couldn’t do before.

I’m loving it and as in my last post about this I’m going to encourage you to try to find a place around where you live to rock climb and at least try it. You never know, you may find your new passion :)

You Do Not Understand Infinity

infinity-38084

“Do you believe in infinity?”

You do not understand it and I do not understand it.

Fact.

Why is this you might ask? Well I’ll explain this to you, and myself.

What is infinity? Some would say it is a number, they would be wrong of course. This is because infinity is a concept.

It’s defined as 1. “the state or quality of being infinite.” and 2. “a number greater than any assignable quantity or countable number (symbol ∞).”

I agree with this definition . . . in part.

To me, infinity is something much greater than mere numbers (sorry math people) Infinity is the idea that anything is possible.

While that may seem like a cliché I would like you to stop and think for a second about this, “Do you believe in infinity?”

I would argue that the vast majority of people do not. But I like to think that I do.

“What does this all mean, is anything really possible? and to that question I would say yes.

Infinity means that there is no limit. If something can be imagined then it can be possible. However, it may not be possible in our universe. This is to say that there are laws governing how our universe works and according to infinity there re other universes with different laws than our and in those universes something that may not be possible in our universe . . . is possible.

Let’s try an example. Is it possible that the world of Star Wars exists somewhere? If you think according to infinity then . . . yes.

You’re probably scoffing at this point (I understand it is difficult to understand) but if there is no limit then there is nothing that can’t be.

One of my favorite visualizations of this concept is dreams. I dream, you dream, everybody dreams. Wether or not we remember all of them is not uniform but at some point you have a dream that you remember. If you think about infinity, then somewhere out in the possibilities of creation that dream, that idea your brain thought up, is happening, or has happened, and that is entirely possible.

Another example I like to use and the one that I think people find is most difficult to comprehend, is that you have another you out there. Most are taught at a young age and then as they grow up that they are unique and no one else is exactly like them. However, if you visualize infinity, then you realize that the opposite is true. You are not unique per say, because there is an infinite amount of people who are exactly like you, in every way, somewhere.

Let me just re-state. I do not think that same you is necessarily in this universe but is some other form they exist.

Who knows, it is entirely possible that someone with the same life as you and the same ideas and beliefs exists but with one key difference, they have the ability to fly. Now isn’t that frustrating? Why couldn’t you be the you that can fly?

Ideas like that is what separates those who understand infinity and those who don’t. If you understand then you acknowledge that everything and anything is possible.

I don’t want to try and convert you or anything but I wanted to give you an eye-opener to the possibilities that arise when you think of infinity. Who knows, I may be crazy for thinking this but I think that the entire concept is amazing and I wanted to share it with you :)

So let me know what you think? Is this appealing to you or does you fear something like this? Let me know!

One Of The Weirder Music Video’s I Have Seen

I like the artist and I like the song but some of the stuff was a little creepy. Overall the song itself is good for development of character and I think that the video adds to that so I like it but the first time you watch it, even more so if you don’t understand the french, you think “what am I watching”

Why I Dislike “Txting”

Let me start by saying that I think technology is awesome and communication is great. We are able to do things that would have been thought impossible 50 years ago. I txt people every day, I don’t send them a letter once a week. (to see my view of all that read this post on communication)

However! With the increase in all this technology there has also been a decrease in personal interactions. Instead of walking over to a friend’s house and talking to them now a days we just txt them for a few minutes and leave it. We generally do not schedule time to meet up with someone to discuss work with them or the events of the week. We just hop on Facebook and check out their profile.

This is something that I really dislike. I like to talk to talk people, something that is not done enough with the newer generations, that have grown up with technology, in my opinion.

You can type “lol” but it will never beat hearing the sound of actual laughter. I don’t think you will ever be able to replace the feel of talking face to face through technology for long time. Maybe someday but I will probably be long dead.

So for right now, talking face to face is very important and I think that you lose something by not interacting with people regularly. Can I describe what that something is? No, I’m not inclined enough in the literary arts and the philosophical world to know how to, but that does not mean I can’t feel it.

Event though technology is great and wonderful and allows communication in amazing ways, going back to the basics and talking with someone face-to-face is something that everyone should not go without.
