Just as a quick update. I am starting my planning to go traveling in Europe later this year.

I’m very excited to go and travel around and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. My travels will center around France as I’ve been learning French for the last few years (still not that good though) but I also plan on visiting the other nations and branch out from France.

Right now the adventure is still in the planning phase but I’m working on it with a friend as we plan to go together and explore.

Just thought I’d share that with you all :)

Forwards Or Backwards, That Is The Question

This question was posed to me: “you can travel one direction in time, forwards or backwards, which do you choose?”

I paraphrased there a bit but essentially this is a very easy question for me to answer as I have thought about it before.

(I’m also assuming that you can pick how far you want to go backwards or forwards and that you would not have a way of going back once you got there)

I would travel forward in time. No question.

Why might you ask? Well it is because I love the unknown. I think it is amazing and full of possibilities and I love to just know what will be.

Thing is, I know what has happened. I took all my history classes. It’s happened, it’s done. Now granted I do not know everything that happened. There are still a lot of mysteries that are not know like where did humans originate from and the like. There are also a lot of cool people who I would like to meet from the past like the Buddha for example.

However! The past has happened and the future has not. Therefore, the future has the most potential and that is what I want to learn more about.

Will the human race leave the earth eventually or will we never leave? Are there others in the galaxy or are we alone? Those questions are something that I think will be answered in the future.

I also think that if I traveled far enough into the future then I would be able to help them out and be a historian. I could recount firsthand some events that have happened from my time but to them is something that are lacking information on. You never know.

Of course there are also dangers to going into the future, a super virus or something that could kill me the moment I come in contact with another person or I could kill them or something else I have not thought of but I still want to go.

I don’t want to go to the past, at least the recent past because I don’t want to inadvertently change something that was vital for something. I don’t know what it would be but I don’t want it to happen.

I think that explains my stance daily well. If you have an opinion on the topic let me know in the comments. Do you want to go forwards or backwards?

The Increasing Amount Of Drones In The Sky

This is something that I’ve been thinking about lately: With all the recent interest and development in drone related things, what does that mean for the future when we look up at the sky?

I’ve been seeing articles and video’s pop up about new ways to put drones in the sky and the increasing popularity of quad-copters. Like GoPro’s recent video where someone flew a drone into the area where a fireworks show was being put on:

There is another idea (which I think is quite cool and clever) to use a drone to follow you while you do action sports that would require you to have another person with you but because you have this drone with you, you now have a cameraman that won’t complain or ask for breaks.

These guys are doing a kickstarter for what they call the AirDog.

I think that what they are doing is great and I think drones have an amazing potential. However there is a problem that I foresee.

What happens when you and everyone on your block has a drone of some sort. Will they crash into each other? Instead of yelling “get off my lawn!” will people yell “get out of my airspace!” These are things that will need to be addresses looking forward.

The peace of a calm summer day with the breeze blowing and the birds chirping would be shattered the moment a drone flew overhead, scattering the birds and breaking the calm of the scene.

Now I like drones, I think that the shots that the drone captured during the fireworks show were amazing and the AirDog idea is awesome (I’ll probably be getting one) but if there were 20 drones flying around the fireworks show and an AirDog following everyone around then it would get pretty annoying.

Just some food for thought. Speaking of thoughts, if you have any then feel free to voice them in the comments below. How do you feel about drones? Do you want more or less in the sky? I want to know :)

I Bought A Website!

I really should have done this sooner but for some reason never did.

In any case I now have my very own spot on the internet (besides this blog here) and now I have to figure out what to do with it. I got one for my personal name and one for this blog. The one for the blog will be its future home but right now it just redirects to this blog on WordPress.

Now I have to learn how to build a website :)

A quick note. If you are thinking about getting a website for yourself and you go online and see that your name is available, buy it, right then and there. I say this because the other day when I wanted to buy my website I looking up my name and it was not taken. I was very surprised that it wasn’t so that go me thinking, “I should buy it.” So the next day I go to buy it and it turns out this it was now taken, only a day later two, less than 24 hours! I was pretty upset about that and bummed out because I had neglected to take my own advice and paid for it. So instead I bought a website that has my name and the first letter of my middle name in it which I don’t think is as good but it’s still something and I like having a spot on the internet that is owned by me.

I lied, that note wasn’t quick after all :)

The Myo And Why I Want One

There has been a little invention that a team has been working on for the last few years call the Myo. It is a small band that you slip on to your arm and it allows your muscle movements to control your computer.

Myo sceenshot

They have started selling pre-orders and I am very excited to get one when they have finalized the design. I think that this concept has an amazing amount of potential and if I can code it to suit my specific needs then that’s even better.

It’s pretty affordable right now at a $150 US so it’s not an out of the question buy. They’ve been in development for a while now and have switched the overall look to what they say is now the finalized look. I’ll wait a bit until they have finalized it further but I am definitely going to get one.

Imagine being able to open your browser with a  flick of the wrist. Or maybe you have a workflow that opens up the applications you want to start off your day? Then you could just program a movement that would run the workflow and bam, everything turned on when you make a thumbs up! The future is now :)

If you want more information about the device, I’ll provide a link here that will take you to the developer’s website.

X-Men Days of Future Past Review

I loved this movie. I thought that the movie did a great job of fixing a lot of complaints about the series in the past and they had a good way of fixing them. The action was great, the comical elements were funny, and the plot was sound, at least to me, also the after the credits scene was amazing.

The Liebster Award!

Thanks to Dominic “Aul” over at for nominating me for the Liebster Award.!

This is what the Liebster Award is all about:

“The Liebster Award is awarded to bloggers with under 200 followers to try to promote their blog a little and also bring together a community of bloggers. The rules of the competition are as follows:

The nominated user must provide a link back to the person who nominated them. Provide 11 facts about yourself Answer 11 question set by the person who nominated you Choose 11 more people and ask them 11 questions!”

My 11 facts:

1. To start off, Halo is my favorite video game series. None have come close to beating it.

2. I extremely dislike heat and love the cold as it is easier to get warmer then it is to get colder.

3. At the time of this writing I am currently listing to the Kill la Kill soundtrack as it is currently one of the best soundtracks for any anime in my opinion..

4. I could talk for hours about the Matrix trilogy and stand firm that it is my favorite movie (series)

5. Skydiving is something that I have not done yet but want to do very much and soon hopefully.

6. Burgers are the greatest inventions in the food world that I can think of.

7. I know how to read and write in the Time Lord language Galifreyan.

8. Reading is something that I do quite frequently and I prefer sci-fi and fantasy books but I have been known to stray into others genres.

9. I am an Apple fan but am not clueless about technology, like a lot of Mac users, and have in fact built the computer that I am typing this on right now.

10. My eyes are green and I have absolutely no desire to hide that.

11. I’m usually a very cryptic and secretive person.

Aul’s questions and my answers to them listed below:

1. What book genres do you read the most?

I just realized that I answered this in my facts part, but I mostly prefer fantasy and sci-fi as my main topics, Rama for example or Pebble in the Sky but I also go for romances sometimes too. (very very rarely, and they must involve fantasy and/or sci-fi elements as well but not something like Twilight)

2. Out of any characters from fairly known books you’ve read, who do you think you resemble the most?

This is a tough one for sure. I will also take resemble to mean not just looks but also personality as well. So because of that I would have to go with Percy Jackson from Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. However my hair is blonde and my father is not a greek god. In most other aspects though I feel that he is representative of me.

3.  Out of any characters from fairly known books you’ve read, who do you wish you could resemble the most?

I’m completely fine resembling Percy Jackson but if I had to choose another then I would go with Eragon from the Inheritance Cycle series. He seems like a pretty cool dude and I would really like to be able to use magic :)

4. Are you homeschooled, public schooled, or other?

I come from the land of the public school system with all its unfairness and odd assortment of people.

5. If you had to choose between being lost in a frozen tundra or a super hot desert, which would you choose?

Frozen Tundra, no contest. I would probably die quicker and in a less painful way because after a certain point I would just feel numb and that’s better than all my skin peeling off in the desert.

6. (I feel compelled to ask this :))If you had to fight a bear, what weapons would you choose: A shotgun, a spear, or a sword?

This is also going to have to be a sword because I feel I can use it better than a spear, and even though I am well versed in the use of guns I think a bullet, unless placed properly, would not kill the bear as fast as a sword.

7. Do you consider yourself “sporty”?

Hmmm, well that’s hard. I guess it depend on what you mean by sporty. I don’t do anything very often, I’m on the computer a lot and sitting down for my work but it’s not like I never go out. I mountain bike, rock climb, kayak, go river rafting, swim, hike, go camping, hang out at the beach, and other outdoorsy stuff but I don’t really compete in sports though. You’ll have to decide if I’m “sporty” or not from that information.

8. What field of science interests you the most?

Neuroscience interests me the most. I love the brain and I really want to know how it works and if it even can be understood how it works. Maybe even find out if it can be enhanced too. That would be pretty cool.

9. If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

If you offered me good pay for being in a think tank for new ideas of some sort then I would accept it on the spot. I love to think of new ideas for products and concepts that can benefit people. Of course I can’t think of any right now to give as an example (I should really start writing them down) but I have had some good ones!

10. Why do you blog?

I blog because I like to write down my thoughts about anything. I thought that if I liked what I thought then there must be at least one other person out there who thought like I did and would enjoy reading what I write. So I blog for that one person who is entertained or I can make their day better by writing. Hopefully that has happened, hopefully it will keep happening.

11. Out of anyone you know personally, who do you look up to the most?

Okay now this is a hard one. The thing is, there are many people who I look at for guidance or as example of what I should be doing but I don’t really look up to anyone, it’s more that I look to the side because I picture myself as equal to those around me. I also try to model myself, as silly as it seems sometimes, off of characters from books or movies. Those characters are what I aim for as they are meant to be the perfect or near perfect of the idea that they represent so my reasoning is that if I can get close to that then I’ll be doing okay. I hope that answers your question enough that it is acceptable, I can try again if you want me to so let me know and I will think upon it for a longer period of time.

Here are the people I’m nominating:

Aaahhh ya, I will be finding those 11 people soon as I can :) I think that I’ll just leave this open and eventually I’ll fill in the blanks, It may take a while though.

My questions:

1. In-N-Out of Five Guys, and if have never tried either of them then why not?

2. What is your opinion on fishing, and would you eat the fish or let it go?

3. What’s one thing you really want to do but have never done, and why?

4. Will you try something if the chance of failure is 50-50

5. What’s the difference between you and other people?

6. When was the last time you laughed, truly laughed, and what was it that made you laugh?

7. If happiness was a currency, how rich are you?

8. Someone invents a dream recorder, you can use it but you have to watch your dreams with your family and closest friends, would you do it?

9. You are given a choice between a vacation with $2000 month stipend for 4 months, or you get 10 minutes on the moon, what do you choose?

10. What is your preference when it comes to apples?

11. If you could only live in one place for the rest of your life, where would it be? (doesn’t have to be a place you’ve been to before)

I would like to thank Aul again for nominating me!  I’ll be working finding 11 other great blogs to nominate as well! If you have been nominated, you can participate by writing a post in which you present 11 facts about yourself, answering my 11 questions, and leaving 11 questions for the 11 people you nominate.  Please leave a link to your blog in the comments so that I can see your post.  Thanks for reading!

This Is What Comes After Silicon Chips

This Is What Comes After Silicon Chips ⚙ Co.Labs ⚙ code + community.

I love stuff like this. It tells me that there is still advancement being done in the world. If this can become a wide spread use then the amount of power use for computers will decrease exponentially and there will room for improvement in the speed at which commuter chips can run processes. Truly amazing.
