POOWWAAA

ALRIGHT!!!

I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to talk about!!

But that’s not going to stop me is it! I’ll just keep going until the walking dead primer which will be in about an hour or so.

— Let’s take a sidebar about that here. I am a huge fan of The Walking Dead and have been avidly keeping up with the last 4 seasons so this next one is highly anticipated or me. I think I’ll be doing episode reviews for each one as they come out but will see how that works out. Reviewing for me is more like having a conversation and if there is no one to converse with then it makes me sad :( So if you are a fan of The Walking Dead then let me know so I can write something that we can talk about!

Speaking of POOWWAAA (my way of saying power ever since I saw this commercial) My computer set up has to be using too much. First I have a full tower that granted doesn’t use too much when it’s not going all out but then I have a dual monitor set-up along with two external hard drives backing up my stuff and a stereo system plugged in to give my ears a surround sound experience (not really but there are speakers in front of me and behind me for only 2 channels of sound and really surround sound is 5.1 channels I believe not exactly sure though) so that draws powa as I play music or at least some form of sound constantly. It’s sometimes a good thing during the winter because the entire setup acts as a heater that just puts out the stuff but during the summer (as in right now) It’s a bummer because it makes the room pretty hot.

Did I mention that I’m tired? I had a really long weekend, it was good but packed.

In any case I recommend that you make a chocolate milkshake before you go to bed tonight. They are good and I’ve been craving one, although I’ll probably just eat and apple instead. And if you are lactose intolerant or something and can’t eat (psshhh drink, whatever) those then I am sorry for you loss :(

Enjoy the rest of your day and drink (eat dangit!) a milkshake!

Inspiration

I’m going to just start typing and see what happens here.

I named this post “Inspiration” because that is what I need. I tend to have most of my posts planned out and there is usually a backlog of stuff that will get posted over the next few days or weeks.

I say this because right now there is no backlog. This is current.

I’m writing this because Inspiration is something that many people struggle with once they reach a certain part in their blogging career. Ha, look at me, implying that I have spent any sort of time on WordPress being an accomplished blogger.

It’s now been a few months since I started with blog and I have (let me check) 171 followers. Now that’s pretty cool, it’s nice that many people are getting my work whenever I post. Realistically the number is smaller than that because of the spam accounts that subscribe or the people who don’t actually care about my material but just about getting more views to their site.

But if you are  one of my readers who like seeing my stuff then I thank you! Especially the people who comment frequently and participate in conversations, going to give a shout out to Aul and Atherz there.

But let’s get back the main topic (was there a topic?) of Inspiration.

I tend to have the best ideas when I’m doing nothing, just sitting still and wondering about the universe. Sometimes I play some music . . . okay most of the time I play music but that’s besides the point (again, what is the point?) Inspiration comes in many forms and from many sources (finally a point to this whole thing!) While I get inspiration from pondering, another may get inspiration from hanging upside down, or working out. Whatever it may be, being inspired and having a unique thought is always interesting and fun.

I love discovering a certain pathway of thinking I had not gone down before and exploring it further. That is usually how I get my ideas for posting.

Coincidentally, when I do not have time to sit around and ponder I have fewer ideas, as is the case right now, resulting in what you are reading now, assuming you’ve made it this far. I know it’s been a lot looking back but hopefully I’ll find an ending to this pathway soon.

Anyway, the moral of the story (what does that even mean in this context?) is that you should take some time off from your busy schedule, if you have one, and spend some of that time off doing whatever activity it is that inspires you. I think that staying inspired is key to living a happy life so start thinking!

If you made it this far then I thank you for reading everything! I hope I . . . inspired you (ha . ha . ha . I’m sorry) If you liked this style of writing, essentially a stream of consciousness, then let me know. I still need to make my next post ;)

Forwards Or Backwards, That Is The Question

This question was posed to me: “you can travel one direction in time, forwards or backwards, which do you choose?”

I paraphrased there a bit but essentially this is a very easy question for me to answer as I have thought about it before.

(I’m also assuming that you can pick how far you want to go backwards or forwards and that you would not have a way of going back once you got there)

I would travel forward in time. No question.

Why might you ask? Well it is because I love the unknown. I think it is amazing and full of possibilities and I love to just know what will be.

Thing is, I know what has happened. I took all my history classes. It’s happened, it’s done. Now granted I do not know everything that happened. There are still a lot of mysteries that are not know like where did humans originate from and the like. There are also a lot of cool people who I would like to meet from the past like the Buddha for example.

However! The past has happened and the future has not. Therefore, the future has the most potential and that is what I want to learn more about.

Will the human race leave the earth eventually or will we never leave? Are there others in the galaxy or are we alone? Those questions are something that I think will be answered in the future.

I also think that if I traveled far enough into the future then I would be able to help them out and be a historian. I could recount firsthand some events that have happened from my time but to them is something that are lacking information on. You never know.

Of course there are also dangers to going into the future, a super virus or something that could kill me the moment I come in contact with another person or I could kill them or something else I have not thought of but I still want to go.

I don’t want to go to the past, at least the recent past because I don’t want to inadvertently change something that was vital for something. I don’t know what it would be but I don’t want it to happen.

I think that explains my stance daily well. If you have an opinion on the topic let me know in the comments. Do you want to go forwards or backwards?

Catacomb Snatch Review

So I tried this game out recently and I have to say, it was pretty fun.

Essentially the goal is to explore a maze while killing monsters to get money to buy defenses and new guns so that you can eventually, after exploring the maze, find the center and bring back an amount liquid from this temple looking thing to your main base.

It’s oddly addictive and you can spend a decent amount of time playing a single game.

There is also a multiplayer mode where 2 people can compete against each other to see who can bring back the liquid stuff first.

If you want to check the game out then you can find the main website here, it’s a small jar file to download and it runs off of that.

Simple fun, why not right?

Rock Climbing: pt 2

So after my last post about rock climbing I thought I should post an update.

I’ve been climbing a lot recently. To give you a perspective of what it’s like here are some pictures of small portion of the place.

Photo Sep 19, 3 56 29 PM Photo Sep 19, 4 26 51 PM

There are not a lot of people there as the time of the picture because it was early in the day around 2pm. More people tend to show up later in the night.

The sea pictures is the bouldering area, the place where you can climb without ropes and essentially free-climb stuff. You can do this because the hight of the walls is not enough that a fall from the top would not seriously injure you.

I’m loving rock climbing because it’s such a great way of visually seeing your progress. Different routes are rated different difficulties so I can do routes that I couldn’t do before.

I’m loving it and as in my last post about this I’m going to encourage you to try to find a place around where you live to rock climb and at least try it. You never know, you may find your new passion :)

You Do Not Understand Infinity

infinity-38084

“Do you believe in infinity?”

You do not understand it and I do not understand it.

Fact.

Why is this you might ask? Well I’ll explain this to you, and myself.

What is infinity? Some would say it is a number, they would be wrong of course. This is because infinity is a concept.

It’s defined as 1. “the state or quality of being infinite.” and 2. “a number greater than any assignable quantity or countable number (symbol ∞).”

I agree with this definition . . . in part.

To me, infinity is something much greater than mere numbers (sorry math people) Infinity is the idea that anything is possible.

While that may seem like a cliché I would like you to stop and think for a second about this, “Do you believe in infinity?”

I would argue that the vast majority of people do not. But I like to think that I do.

“What does this all mean, is anything really possible? and to that question I would say yes.

Infinity means that there is no limit. If something can be imagined then it can be possible. However, it may not be possible in our universe. This is to say that there are laws governing how our universe works and according to infinity there re other universes with different laws than our and in those universes something that may not be possible in our universe . . . is possible.

Let’s try an example. Is it possible that the world of Star Wars exists somewhere? If you think according to infinity then . . . yes.

You’re probably scoffing at this point (I understand it is difficult to understand) but if there is no limit then there is nothing that can’t be.

One of my favorite visualizations of this concept is dreams. I dream, you dream, everybody dreams. Wether or not we remember all of them is not uniform but at some point you have a dream that you remember. If you think about infinity, then somewhere out in the possibilities of creation that dream, that idea your brain thought up, is happening, or has happened, and that is entirely possible.

Another example I like to use and the one that I think people find is most difficult to comprehend, is that you have another you out there. Most are taught at a young age and then as they grow up that they are unique and no one else is exactly like them. However, if you visualize infinity, then you realize that the opposite is true. You are not unique per say, because there is an infinite amount of people who are exactly like you, in every way, somewhere.

Let me just re-state. I do not think that same you is necessarily in this universe but is some other form they exist.

Who knows, it is entirely possible that someone with the same life as you and the same ideas and beliefs exists but with one key difference, they have the ability to fly. Now isn’t that frustrating? Why couldn’t you be the you that can fly?

Ideas like that is what separates those who understand infinity and those who don’t. If you understand then you acknowledge that everything and anything is possible.

I don’t want to try and convert you or anything but I wanted to give you an eye-opener to the possibilities that arise when you think of infinity. Who knows, I may be crazy for thinking this but I think that the entire concept is amazing and I wanted to share it with you :)

So let me know what you think? Is this appealing to you or does you fear something like this? Let me know!

One Of The Weirder Music Video’s I Have Seen

I like the artist and I like the song but some of the stuff was a little creepy. Overall the song itself is good for development of character and I think that the video adds to that so I like it but the first time you watch it, even more so if you don’t understand the french, you think “what am I watching”

Why I like Flickr More Than Instagram

I recently started using Flickr after a long time of thinking it was bad and that it had a lot of improving to do. That “long time ago” was June of 2013.

One week ago I logged back into my account and I discovered something. Flickr is great now!

When you sign up you get 1TB of free space to store your pictures. Let me say that again, you get 1TB, for free. That is something I have not heard of being matched. The only downside to that is ads being displayed to you and in your slide shows when others scroll through your stuff. A small distraction for what you get in my opinion.

The Flickr app does everything that Instagram does and more. You can view your images up close in app and then select multiple shots to be uploaded. From there you can decide if you want the pictures to be public or just to friends and/or family. You can share the links to those pictures so people without Flickr accounts can view them on the website.

Now the shortfalls. I think that the web interface is a little lacking and hard to navigate in some areas. I also think that it is a bummer that you have to create an @yahoo.com mail/account to use the service. I personally do not puffer to use Yahoo and no not like being forced to have an account with them. However, you can sign in with Facebook or Google but the site warns you that you will have to sign in with a Yahoo account eventually.

So that’s my opinion on Flickr. I have now begun to move away from Instagram and switch fully to Flickr. The service works for my needs and I encourage you to at least try it out if you have a need to store and share your photo’s online. Obviously I will not be putting my entire library online but for the ones that I consider “artsy” I will upload and share.

Thanks for reading my opinion and I would like to hear yours. What do you think about Flickr?

Why I Dislike “Txting”

Let me start by saying that I think technology is awesome and communication is great. We are able to do things that would have been thought impossible 50 years ago. I txt people every day, I don’t send them a letter once a week. (to see my view of all that read this post on communication)

However! With the increase in all this technology there has also been a decrease in personal interactions. Instead of walking over to a friend’s house and talking to them now a days we just txt them for a few minutes and leave it. We generally do not schedule time to meet up with someone to discuss work with them or the events of the week. We just hop on Facebook and check out their profile.

This is something that I really dislike. I like to talk to talk people, something that is not done enough with the newer generations, that have grown up with technology, in my opinion.

You can type “lol” but it will never beat hearing the sound of actual laughter. I don’t think you will ever be able to replace the feel of talking face to face through technology for long time. Maybe someday but I will probably be long dead.

So for right now, talking face to face is very important and I think that you lose something by not interacting with people regularly. Can I describe what that something is? No, I’m not inclined enough in the literary arts and the philosophical world to know how to, but that does not mean I can’t feel it.

Event though technology is great and wonderful and allows communication in amazing ways, going back to the basics and talking with someone face-to-face is something that everyone should not go without.

The Adventures Of Appletree: Part 1

The first few months can be a slow start but The Rock and Helga are almost done digging out the entrance to the soon-to-be vast Mountain Hall! Black Widow is over in the carpenters workshop building some beds for everyone along with some other needed supplies (like barrels to but the essential beer in) and Jim is just about to start building the mason’s workshop.

Now we have the makings of an actual fort. They still need to decide where everything will go and what rooms will be used for what but so far everything is going smoothly.

After a few months of work and towards the end of summer, work on the main meeting hall was finished, for now. There are beds for everyone and stockpiles were the supplies are gathered along with a few workshops. Everything is contained and the team now has a base of operations from which they can build out from.

Some immigrants arrived as well. They were forced into slavery asked to try their hand at farming and started growing food for the group.

The immigrant even brought a useless good-for-nothing child with them! How exciting!

So here we have the current population of Appletree:

Also, some of the new group have been given official titles:

So there you have it, the first part of the Appletree story. After some interior decorating and  expansion they will have a real shot here. All of the main members are feeling “quite content” with their current status. I hope that doesn’t change . . .
