I have recently started to design, build, and make a custom chess set for myself. I recently wrote a post about chess and how interesting it was so I thought “hey, I have access to materials and software and stuff that makes it easy to build a chess set, so why not?”
I’ll say how I will be going about this for those interested. I will be imagining and sketching some designs that I have in mind for each piece. Then I will be “building the pieces in a program called SolidWorks. Then after that I will print them out, make the board out of some wood, paint everything and make it look nice, and then play a game. The hard part so far is making pieces that I like. It is a lot harder than I thought to make good looking pieces that appeal to me.
That is my current progress at the moment, hopefully I will have made some more progress by the time this post comes out. I think when I finish it I’ll post some pictures of the board. It will by no means be a work of art but it will be something I made myself so I’ll like it.
Alright, This one was awesome. It had everything: super intense moments, thought-out plans, mystery, shocked old dudes!
I finally got around to seeing Godzilla. Overall the movie was decent. It had explosions, army men, giant monsters, and more explosions. In short, it was a Godzilla movie.
Armed with Photoshop and a mouse, I began
So I decided to try my hand at “drawing” a shot from No Game No Life after I saw the thread over at Crunchyroll for a contest about it. Now I’m not the person who draws, I am terrible, just the worst. Stick figures are the best I can do. But I’ve always wanted to be able to draw things, I think it is a useful skill for conveying ideas. Now given that, and armed with Photoshop and a mouse, I began. The result was something that is not the best but something that I am proud of doing. I spent a total of 5 hours working on this and while I know it is not amazing, it will be going into my wallpaper rotation. I hope to improve my abilities in the future and get better so that I can do this show justice when re-drawing screens from it.
If you would like the picture for whatever, just click the picture for the large version, If you intend to use it somewhere, I have no problem with that but please give me credit :)
I loved this movie. I thought that the movie did a great job of fixing a lot of complaints about the series in the past and they had a good way of fixing them. The action was great, the comical elements were funny, and the plot was sound, at least to me, also the after the credits scene was amazing.
I am reminded recently that you can’t win them all. I’ve been doing some work recently that gave me some great opportunities to compete against a few others of similar caliber. In the few contests of similar descriptions I’ve done before I had success and in the most recent I lost. Sorry to be so vague but I want to keep the more personal details to myself for now.
The point of all this was the moral that was reenforced with this loss. You can try your best but there will come a point that you will eventually loose and you need to be prepared for that. But do not fear! There is something you can do to improve your position.
You can build upon your defeat! Find out what you did wrong and when it happened. Determine what you could do better next time and then think if it is worth it to improve to the level hat you had just envisioned in your mind. For me, it is worth it and I will take the lessons that I learned from the loss and apply them to the next situation that requires them. I have already begun this process and hopefully I will be ready next time.
I’m not sure why I think of these things in terms of losses and wins as if they were battles. Possibly because I watch a lot of anime and martial arts fights. Weird. In any case I think it is a good way to classify things as you maintain a competitive nature, if that is your thing. I have always been competitive to a degree so I guess that is what’s natural for me.
Let me know what you think in the comments below . . . or up, I’m not exactly sure what my current theme is right now as I have been switching it around.
